Hi, I’m Matt Cook
I was born and raised in Newcastle — went to St. Francis Xavier in Hamilton, grew up watching this city do things the hard way when smarter tools were sitting right there.
I’ve spent years building software and digital systems, and over the last few years that work has been almost entirely about AI: what it can actually do, where it genuinely saves time, and where the hype is just noise. I’ve built platforms for local government coordination, civic project management, and business automation — all using AI where it earns its place, and skipping it where it doesn’t.
What I kept seeing was this: the businesses that could benefit most from AI were the ones with no one to explain it to them. Not in jargon. Not with a sales pitch. Just honestly.
That’s what Newcastle AI Hub is. I’m 39, I live here, and I want Newcastle businesses to be ahead of this — not still catching up in five years.
